A special Easter outfit

There are days that I miss my mom more than others, but holidays are still especially hard. However, this Easter I had a special, unexpected connection to my mom. Last year, I found a box of baby clothes marked "Linda's baby clothes" tucked in the back of one of the closets in my parents' house. Most of them are legitimately my mom's baby clothes that I wouldn't want to try to put a baby in for fear of having to wash them and have them fall apart. But there are 2 dresses in the box that my mom made in her high school home-ec class. In high school my mom could sew better than I will ever be able to sew! This dress fits Kaylee so perfectly. It is as if my mom pinned it onto Kaylee and tailored it specially for her. And that is what made this holiday bearable....that, and this cute face!

My mom loved getting us new shoes and would always tell us stories about getting new shoes as a little girl. Her favorite shoes were the white shoes with the black saddle, but I think she would have loved these!

I made the flower clip to match...actually I made 7 different bows (see easter basket above) but this one was so perfect I didn't even try the others with the outfit!

And what is a photo session without the awesome kid "cheeeeeeeeeeeese" photo?!

This was simply meant to be. It's the perfect dress for her. <3

Then

During the last few weeks of pregnancy, Kate listened to Brad Paisley's new song "Then". She didn't just listen to it a few times, she obsessively played the song on repeat, learned every word, and sung it at the top of her lungs while driving. Then one day a few weeks after Kaylee was born, Kate was driving with Kaylee by themselves. Kaylee began to cry...then scream. It didn't matter how much Kate reassured her, pulled over to make sure something wasn't wrong, or attempted to hold the pacifier in place with one arm backwards while driving. It finally occurred to Kate that maybe Kaylee wants mommy to sing to her (although no one else would want this!). So Kate put track #4 on and began to sing. Kaylee immediately calmed down. Low and behold, it's not even mommy's singing that Kaylee likes! It's Brad's!
