Growing up

It's been awhile and I can't really remember what we've done since the last time I blogged. I do know that Kaylee and I were in San Jose for a week to see my best friend's new baby and another friend's baby's baptism. But other than that we've just been playing at home and enjoying this amazing weather!

One of my criteria for wherever we moved to from NC was that we had sidewalk or a driveway so that Kaylee could play with chalk. We're lucky to have both of those but also a nice patio in the backyard away from traffic.
We transitioned Kaylee into her toddler bed. "Everyone" told me to wait until she climbed out of her crib, but she's just not a climber and very content in her crib so I had a feeling we'd be waiting a long time. Plus I have a bad back and it was getting too painful to lower 30lbs of sweetness all the way to the mattress. She loves it and has only needed a few reminders to go back to bed. I love that she can come get me in the morning now and even though she is WIDE awake by the time she comes into my room, she still snuggles and kisses on me until I'm ready to get out of bed.
She's learning to ride a tricycle. This one is borrowed and is at Grandpa's house though. We need to get one for home too.
So much growing up going on here....soon she'll be driving. *sigh*

Then

During the last few weeks of pregnancy, Kate listened to Brad Paisley's new song "Then". She didn't just listen to it a few times, she obsessively played the song on repeat, learned every word, and sung it at the top of her lungs while driving. Then one day a few weeks after Kaylee was born, Kate was driving with Kaylee by themselves. Kaylee began to cry...then scream. It didn't matter how much Kate reassured her, pulled over to make sure something wasn't wrong, or attempted to hold the pacifier in place with one arm backwards while driving. It finally occurred to Kate that maybe Kaylee wants mommy to sing to her (although no one else would want this!). So Kate put track #4 on and began to sing. Kaylee immediately calmed down. Low and behold, it's not even mommy's singing that Kaylee likes! It's Brad's!
