With all the posts I've done about Kaylee eating, you'd think she's be a chunky thing. We went for her 15 month wellness check last week (yeah, we're late...there are good reasons though) and although she is gaining weight, it is at a very slow increase on the charts. We had her thyroid checked to be on the safe side and it's perfectly normal, so the doctor said to beef her up. In Kaylee's defense, and mine as the provider of food, she's had the stomach flu twice and something bad to eat once causing her to lose the weight we worked so hard to gain! So Kaylee heard what every child dreams of hearing their doctor say to mom "Give her ice cream! Don't worry about getting the full servings of veggies right now". And my response to that is "I'll have to hide the veggies because she wants to eat those first over anything else". (spaghetti not included) So high calorie foods, here we come!
Turkey, Ranch, and Cheese "burrito" - demolished the entire thing, even picked the fallen turkey and cheese off the tray.
More Taco Bell please!
What? I get corndogs more often now? Wohoo!!!

Then
During the last few weeks of pregnancy, Kate listened to Brad Paisley's new song "Then". She didn't just listen to it a few times, she obsessively played the song on repeat, learned every word, and sung it at the top of her lungs while driving. Then one day a few weeks after Kaylee was born, Kate was driving with Kaylee by themselves. Kaylee began to cry...then scream. It didn't matter how much Kate reassured her, pulled over to make sure something wasn't wrong, or attempted to hold the pacifier in place with one arm backwards while driving. It finally occurred to Kate that maybe Kaylee wants mommy to sing to her (although no one else would want this!). So Kate put track #4 on and began to sing. Kaylee immediately calmed down. Low and behold, it's not even mommy's singing that Kaylee likes! It's Brad's!

Here is the part where I admit what a horrid mother I really am. Both of my kids are low on the charts. Taryn has been 50% until recently and Jake is quickly decreasing to below 20%. Weight wise. I don't really care. They both get lots of good, healthy food. They both run and play and have tons of energy. They both are pretty healthy despite sharing multiple colds with us. I consider that number to be just one of the indications of a healthy child. If more than one of those indications were off, I'd worry but my kids eat as much as they want and when they are done, they can be done. If she's happy and healthy in every other way, don't worry about it! LOL!
Good to hear! I've also been told that it's better to have a skinny child than a chunky one...easier to deal with the weight issue as they grow up. I'm not worried about her, she's definitely not malnourished! And no, you're NOT a horrid mother! :D
Um... has to doctor taken a close look at your and your sister? I think skinniness runs in the gene pool for you guys...
