Catching up

Oh my, where have I been! Since my last post in FEBRUARY I became so consumed with planning my sister's baby shower, making her lots of baby things, and getting my shop restocked. March was a busy month but a fun one! Here's a recap:

We have been enjoying the California sun!  Looks like I need to enjoy it a little more though, please excuse my blinding white legs!

Grandpa came to visit us!  We took him to eat at the Dog House Grill, a local favorite.
Then we went to the Fresno zoo, where almost all the animals were super active...except the kangaroos. ha!

I attempted to make finger paints from scratch.  They turned out like rubber but Kaylee had a blast with them anyway.

We weeded our landscaping.  Kaylee is great at pulling out weeds but we need a little work on the difference between a weed and an actual plant.

We've taken porch swing naps.

John bought a 1969 VW Bug and is already teaching Kaylee how to work on it.  If you remember, I had a 1971 Bug in high school and college that my dad taught me how to work on.  This is the next generation...I LOVE IT!

We've had playdates with cousins.

Kaylee is also "learning" to sew.  Another "next generation" picture. :)

We've flown a few kites with all this wind lately.

We went to a local park to fly the kites and then played on the playground.  We were chased out of the park by a crazy, drunk homeless guy so we'll have to find a better park.  Bummer because Kaylee was having fun here.

So to make us feel better after that experience, we got some Jamba Juice.

We also had my sister's baby shower which I'll do a separate post for, stay tuned!

Then

During the last few weeks of pregnancy, Kate listened to Brad Paisley's new song "Then". She didn't just listen to it a few times, she obsessively played the song on repeat, learned every word, and sung it at the top of her lungs while driving. Then one day a few weeks after Kaylee was born, Kate was driving with Kaylee by themselves. Kaylee began to cry...then scream. It didn't matter how much Kate reassured her, pulled over to make sure something wasn't wrong, or attempted to hold the pacifier in place with one arm backwards while driving. It finally occurred to Kate that maybe Kaylee wants mommy to sing to her (although no one else would want this!). So Kate put track #4 on and began to sing. Kaylee immediately calmed down. Low and behold, it's not even mommy's singing that Kaylee likes! It's Brad's!
