Fall Happenings

This past weekend I jet-setted across the country to attend the wedding of a long time friend. It was a fun "reunion" of friends.

I also got to spend time with some of my family (my dad, Aunt Jenifer, and Candice). That time was too short but enjoyed immensely.

As for life in NC...John stays busy completing the deck and finishing the flooring in our guest bathroom. My Aunt Charlene and Uncle Tim moved to Pennsylvania earlier this year and are driving down to spend Thanksgiving with us. We are looking forward to the time together! It actually falls into our "plan"...slowly but surely we'll have everyone moved out to the east coast. **insert evil laugh**

We've made some new friends at our church, Johanna and Patrick (and Avery & Caroline, their daughters). They are the leaders of the high school ministry which we have become involved in also. We have a group of about 10-15 kids each wednesday night, and we have a fun event/outing once a month.

The NASCAR season is one race away from being over. I have been thrilled with the end of the season since Jimmie Johnson has dominated and will most likely take home the Cup (if I didn't just jinx him). I joined a fantasy football league this year with some California friends, in the hopes that I would become more interested in the football season...no such luck.

God continues to bless us daily and we're enjoying life. :) Hope you're all well and enjoying the Fall season!

Then

During the last few weeks of pregnancy, Kate listened to Brad Paisley's new song "Then". She didn't just listen to it a few times, she obsessively played the song on repeat, learned every word, and sung it at the top of her lungs while driving. Then one day a few weeks after Kaylee was born, Kate was driving with Kaylee by themselves. Kaylee began to cry...then scream. It didn't matter how much Kate reassured her, pulled over to make sure something wasn't wrong, or attempted to hold the pacifier in place with one arm backwards while driving. It finally occurred to Kate that maybe Kaylee wants mommy to sing to her (although no one else would want this!). So Kate put track #4 on and began to sing. Kaylee immediately calmed down. Low and behold, it's not even mommy's singing that Kaylee likes! It's Brad's!
